windows 7 and system repair disc

hey, can you use both retail windows7 and the system repair disc to the same job? to use it if the whole thing crashes. thanks

Both an installation disc and "System Repair Disc" can do the same troubleshooting steps listed below.

1. Startup repair

2. System Restore.

3. System Image Restore.

4. Command line tools like fixboot , Bootrec , bcdedit , SFC and all standard DOS navigation commands.

Please not that "System Repair Disc" is not edition specific but strictly bit specific. You can't use a "System Repair Disc" created from "Windows 7 Home Basic x64" to troubleshoot "Windows 7 Home Basic x86". But you can use the same disc to repair "Windows 7 Professional x64".


If you have a "Windows 7 installation Disc" in hand, there is no need to create "System Repair Disc".
