Those articles have been popping up all over the place but MS will still issue security updates for 5 years. What will stop is "free" hotfixes and "design changes or new features".

Meanwhile WIn7 continues to climb in market share above 50% while its successor can't break 10%.

This is what would likely have happened if CocaCola had doubled down on New Coke instead of providing a textbook example of how to back out gracefully.

You are at the home of Win7, the most wildly popular and successful OS and one of the greatest achievements in tech history. No OS comes close in popularity and there is no successor in sight.

Thank goodness that:

1) Microsoft will no longer be officially 'trying to improve on Window 7.'

2) Security fixes will continue for another 5 years

3) We have sevenforums for support

4) Microsoft has 5 more years to learn from CocaCola!

More... Funny how SP2 support ends...but SP3 is essentially SP2. I know they consider them to be different, and they are technically different releases. But come on...
