System reboots - itself when "applying computer settings" or ...

    Hello,
Im not sure if this is in the right topic, so sorry if it isnt.

I have a a machine that keeps rebooting itself when coming up to the log in screen.

The machine is a Dell Optiplex 990 with 12gb ram and 1tb HDD.

At first i thought it was a windows update reboot loop when "configuring windows updates" however i have now cleared the windows updates and it still reboots its self when it says "applying computer settings" or even when its just at "Ctrl Alt +Delete to sign in".

If im quick enough I can log in when it give me the option and the pc wont reboot at all,
So it looks like after a certain amount of time before login the computer reboots itself for some unknown reason, i have checked the event viewer and theres nothing significant in there.

Im hoping this is something in the registry i can tweak to stop it doing this.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

Run a few Startup Repairs to see if these find anything awry.

Next boot into Win7 to establish a Clean Boot, test your RAM for sticks and slots, test your HD, replace any bloated AV, utilize System Resources to check for issues - which are all detailed in Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.
