In Windows Explorer, right click pop up has no Dropbox menu

Firstly, thank you for the very clear and helpful tutorials, which I have followed

I have followed the tutorial for extracting files from the windows installation disk, and that for sfc /scannow , plus several that are linked from them.
    My output is attached.

It tells me I have an unrepairable autochk.exe, version number 6.17601.17514, and also the store version is corrupt.

I've got four autochk.exe files. They are in :-

Size 760KB dated 21/11/2010 (which in properties / details shows no version info) is the only item in folder
    C:\Windows\winsxs\amd64_microsoft-windows-autochk_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_4019f2b8d860ad30

size 760KB dated 21/11/2010 (which in properties / details shows no version info) is in
    C:\Windows\System32

size 653KB dated 21/11/2010 (showing as 6.17601.17514) is in
    C:\Windows\SysWOW64

size 653KB dated 21/11/2010 (showing as 6.17601.17514) is the only item in folder
    C:\Windows\winsxs\x86_microsoft-windows-autochk_31bf3856ad364e35_6.1.7601.17514_none_e3fb573520033bfa

The one extracted from my Windows Installation disk is 760KB dated 14/07/2009, which is version 6.1.7600.16385.

How do I find out which file needs replacing, and from where?

And what is the store that also holds a corrupt file?

In Windows Explorer, right click pop up has no Dropbox menu

At some point, my Windows Explorer has gone mad. First it has started crashing (explorer has stopped...) but that will be a different post.

THe main problem I have now is that when I right click on any file within the dropbox folder, I used to have, within the menu that pops up, a dropbox section that amongst other things allowed me to copy a link to the file for sharing. That section of the pop up menu is completely missing - there is no reference to dropbox.

I have contacted Dropbox, who suggested stop dropbox, uninstall, reboot, delete any folders that are entitled dropbox in %windir% (there were none) and then reinstall dropbox, and re-link it to my account. I have now done that twice, with and without rebooting afterwards, and it has not helped.

Any ideas as to what else I might be able to do?

Windows Explorer crash on right click, ignores some folders&favourites

I've definitely got problems with Windows Explorer.

For some time, it would just stop working for no apparent reason, then close and restart.

Recently I found it was crashing whenever I right clicked on a file. I searched about that and did some investigation, eventually was recommended to install ShellExView, from which I could selectively disable extensions that might be causing problems in the context menu. SO far as I know, I did not uninstall anything, and there are no extensions now shown as disabled.

Whatever I did, right click on a file within a folder now works OK and gives a pop up menu.

For a while since then, right clicking a folder in the left pane caused it to stop, close and repoen. Now, that does not cause a problem. However, I still occasionally get the random crash.

I've also found over the last couple of months that favourite or recent folders or just folders which I use a lot no longer respond. If I click on them, the folder does not open.

Prior to playing with ShellExView, there were problems with two folders that hold temporary images that I upload to ebay. They happen to be called "000 ebay" and "000 ebay 1024", so they sort at the front of the parent folder. They've both stopped responding to me clicking either in the left pane. The folder name is highlighted, but the contents on the right are those of whichever folder I have just left. If I go to the folder above, and double click on one in the right pane, it opens OK. The other sub-folders in that parent folder all work perfectly normally. Both folders were also in my Favourites set of folders, and they no longer responded to clicking from there, so I have had to remove them from favourites. I have been using those two folders for approaching two years; why would they just stop responding?

I was able to delete and recreate the short cuts in favourites, but the solution to the issue of accessing either from the left hand pane when in the other (something I do need to do frequently on ebay listing days) eludes me.

The other isue in Windows Explorer is posted as a different thread. The right click on a file within Dropbox no longer shows a Dropbox section within the popup menu.

Start with the System File Checker since you are also having Explorer issues

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Thanks A Guy, but I'd already done that and posted separately. Only a corrupt autochk.exe, which it can't fix. See other thread

This may not be the only file error - we need more details first...

Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

I'm asking a Mod to concatenate all the threads (and I've responded in the SFC thread)

Sorry I thought they were different problems. I kept reading to not add a problem to a thread but to post a new one, and clearly got over-zealous. THank you ever so much for being understanding and getting them combined. SURT is downloading now.

It's a fine line - but it's always best to have only one thread running at a time, since problems that appear unrelated could have the same underlying problem, and it's only when we see them all lined up on the shooting-range that we get the ducks

Once we have one problems solved, if the others remain, then start a new thread with a link-back to the original so that people know what's already been done/tried/botched.
