Preparing desktop

Hi,

I woke up this morning, switched on my computer, logged in as normal but all my files were missing from the desktop, my pictures, videos and downloads. I search for the files manually and found them when I go to computer/new volume c:/users/myname. My google chrome has my google search history but no bookmarks or general history. My saved tabs also do not show. It's almost as if I've rebooted the computer but there are still files somewhere and saved data.

Is this a corruption issue ? And how do I fix it to get it back to normal again ? Thanks

Tried a system restore already still not working. After doing some research I've seen it may be a temp corruption. Is this true ?
