Odd problem with pinned programs on taskbar

I seem to be having a problem with the pinned programs on my taskbar and I was wondering if anybody can help me here. Most of the programs on my taskbar simply highlight the icon that I clicked when I want to start the program or start a new instance of the program. However, a select few programs (iTunes, Peggle Nights, Plants vs. Zombies), for whatever reason, when I click on them, they form a new icon for the program on the right of the rest of the icons.

For instance, when I click on iTunes (when the program is not already running), it will highlight the icon I clicked for a moment then form a new iTunes icon in addition to the old iTunes icon and the new one will be the one I must use to control iTunes. This exact problem persists in the other programs as well. Can anybody help me fix this?

Any help would be very very appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I had the same problem. Heres what I did.

    1. Delete all pinned itunes icon/s from the task bar.
    2. Open itunes "normally" from desktop icon or startmenu.
    3. Now this itunes (which you just opened) icon will appear on the task bar.
    4. Right click on it and select "Pin this program to taskbar"
    5. Now this icon behaves like all the other "regular" taskbar icons.

You can try this with other apps too.

    Gurvin,

Thanks a lot for your input. This method worked on the iTunes issue but for some reason isn't correcting the situation with Peggle Nights or Plants vs. Zombies. After I pin the programs to the desktop while they are running and then close them and attempt to run them again, I get an error stating the following:

"The item 'popcapgame1.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.

Do you want to delete this shortcut?"

I'm not exactly sure what the problem there would be since I ran the game from the program files folder it is contained in. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks again!

    Spacetreasure,
Peggle Nights is pinning normally for me. Its pinnng both from the default desktop icon and even from the icon when the game is running so I got no suggestions for u except try reinstalling and pinning the desktop icon. I got the trial version of the game to test it out. Ended up playing for quite a bit

Thanks a lot, Gurvin. I'll try and fix the problem though it looks like I'll just have to deal with it until then. Peggle's very addictive, by the way, I'm glad you enjoy it.
