Steam google chrome and avast won't launch help?

Hello I'm currently having problems with my computer now I am a gamer and everything but here as of late I have been having problems with my computer the last thing I did on it before it started doing this was quit skyrim and shut down my computer after that the computer when even booting is going slow google chrome avast antivirus and steam will now not launch or even start to launch steam will say boot strapped error and stop google chrome won't even launch but when it did the one and only time it just showed a picture of my desktop surrounded by the google chrome window and didn't load avast will start but won't respond I need help figuring out what is happening here because I have a lot of data on my computer and would rather not waste it I have windows 7 professional also when I start task manager the computer is at 140 processes when it is normally around 111 and is maxing out at 100 % of computer usage even the mouse is lagging even internet explorer won't work

That's a lot of processes!!! My Win 8 Pro X64 has 85 and that is high, even though I want everything running.

The laptop itself has 8gb of ram so I never really thought it wasn't normal because this has never happened to it before and the computer wasn't slow so I thought it was normal
