How to get clock in taskbar to display seconds
Is there any way to get the clock in the taskbar to display seconds as well as hour, minutes, and AM/PM?

I believe the only way to do that is with third party software.
You can use 7 taskbar tweaker
7+ Taskbar Tweaker - RaMMicHaeL's Blog
I have used it for years to clear the unwanted spaces between icons on the taskbar.
If you want the taskbar to display 10:35:44, Wednesday 7/30/2014 make sure your taskbar is double hight.
Actually it can be accomplished easily in the time section of Region and Language. In long time add 2 lower case ss to the string, see screen shot.
I already have the long time set up with ss in the long time. So, how the big fat hairy heck do you get the long time to display in the task bar?
Here's another idea to consider.
I use Stoic Joker's T-Clock

Need to download T-Clock 2010 (build 95).zip
Screenshot from my machine:
It has quite a few options and is configurable to get the time displayed pretty much any way you like.
It does suffer from going out of sync so I run Time Sync every week or so:
Horst Schaeffer's Software Pages
If you want to try T-Clock you can just run the executable to see it in action.
If you want to run it on startup it's best to create an elevated shortcut and drop it into your startup folder.
Note that my T-Clock link is to the DonationCoder thread where several versions are available. I think I'm using the one with the "week number fix" x64 Build 98
Thanks, Miles, but I know how to unlock and change the size of the taskbar. My problem is my taskbar runs vertically on the left side of the screen. How do you get double height with that? My tray icons are already three across.
Thanks for the link for T-Clock. It looks interesting. I downloaded it and will check it out later.
