    Sticky Notes issue...

    Hello there...
I'm not sure this thread is in the right forum, if not - please move it to the appropriate :)

I installed Windows 7 on all of my pc's a week or so ago, and everything works beautifully, except for one little annoying issue...
(Actually there is two, but the other one I will adress at the forum for that specific piece of software...)

On my desktop, "Sticky Notes" have a weird little "frame" around them...
If I move a "Sticky Note", the frame goes away...
    - only to return a couple of seconds later.

I wondered if any of you had the same "problem", and if so - does anyone have a fix for this?

Really love the "Sticky Notes", but the "frame thing" is violating my W7-eye-candy-experience.

    It's a reinstall, since I don't believe in upgrades...
    It's Windows 7 Ultimate x64...
    All drivers is up-to-date...
    I don't use/install "ancient software"...

Any other questions you might have, I will do my best to answer them if needed.

    Thanks in advance

    T.

Hello Lamsebamsen, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Could you post a screenshot of Sticky Notes with the frame around it? It may help ID what the problem is.

In the mean time, you might consider trying the free program Stickies to see if you may like it better.

I don't get a frame around my sticky notes.

While we are on the subject of sticky notes, is there any way to change the font?

    Hello Oldspook,

You can't change the font in Sticky Notes, but you can change the text format.

Sticky Notes - Change Text Format

    Hope this helps,

Here is a screenshot, thanks for all of your replies so far.

While reading all of your replies, I could se that there was already a thread with the same issues...
So I will try to see if any of the advice in that thread should help.
Will post again within 5 minutes.

About the free software "Stickies", if all fails with Sticky Notes then I will try it. I don't like having stuff on my pcs that doesn't work, so I would like to get this sorted. but thanks for the tip!

Okay, so here is what I've tried after reading the other thread:
White borders around the sticky notes

    Reinstalling/Updating the driver:
First I tried removing and then reinstalling through Windows Update...
    - problem is still there.
Then I tried removing and then reinstalling with the driver directly from Nvidia...
    - driver wouldn't install, it says that I am using a 32bit driver on a 64 bit system - and then in the next "box" it said that I wasn't running Windows Vista or Windows 7 in 64 bit.
I am 100% sure that I am running 64 bit W7 on my desktop, which have the problem, and 32 bit W7 on my laptop.
So I really don't get why it says that!?

Unchecking "Visual Effect - drop shadow":
    Visual Effects Settings - Change

Didn't help either, problem still persists.

Any ideas would be highly appriciated!

Seems like you tried just about all the usual things.

Do you have the latest 195.39 beta drivers from NVIDIA installed? You might also test with a darker desktop background to see how it looks with it.

Nope, I haven't tried the BETA drivers.
As you can read further up in this thread, I apparently have problems installing any drivers on my desktop 64 bit W7...

Well, that wouldn't be removing the problem itself...

    Oh joy...
I actually managed installing the BETA driver after a little work-around (don't know what I did to be honest)...
But the "weird-frame-around-the-StickyNote-notes" are still there

Other suggestions are very much appriciated!

Just FYI, you might want to try another "sticky notes" type app that is very much like the Vista gadget but slightly improved and compatible with W7. I greatly prefer it to the "sticky notes" that is native to W7. This gadget is available free on Windows Live and is called: "Large Notes." It saves multiple notes, you can customize fonts and colors of the notes, there are various sizes of notes and it's ultra simple to set up and use. You basically just download and install the gadget and place it anywhere you want on your desktop.
