My specs are in my online list as well.

Quicker isn't the only issue for me. I just want the features that I bought the new OS for to work for me without several of hours of downloads, updates, upgrades, setup, workarounds and frustration.

Please try to envision those of us that don't sit in front of a computer all day and make our living repairing what should have been right in the first place. We like to check our e-mail, maybe play a game or two and watch or save a future TV program with our Windows 7 compatible USB TV tuner. Not a lot to ask really. Unless it's Microsoft, then you go through hell on earth trying to get anything to operate as advertised.

LOL,i dont have a degree, never done a course or anything to do with computers,i just dont like being defeated so i search and read and keep reading until i find my answer, thus far it has led me to have a decent amount of knowledge ,so far as i can read instructions and put them to use and generally i can fix most of my own problems.

It does take time to get used to it but its worth it,once you get the swing of it you'll be able to do task 50% quicker than you could in XP just by knowing where things are etc.

As for doing what its advertised to do,most if not all of the adverts are to do with new computers with 7 installed along with printers pre installed.

If you have a problem though, you WILL find the soloution here.

All I have to say is, if you don't like learning, then why are you using a PC? Thats part of using a PC. Get over it.

I'm not trying to be confrontational but I'd MUCH rather learn other things than how to fix what should have been right in the first place. When I want to check my e-mail I don't want to spend time configuring my system. When I want to play a game I don't want to have to spend time configuring my system. When I want to look up something on Google I don't want to have to spend time configuring my system. I PAID good money for an operating system to do that for me! Obviously I'm going overboard here but not all of us spend all of our free time in front of a monitor. We have other things to do. Are we asking too much to get what we paid for?

My system cost me €800 (pretty basic),you can see my specs in the tab to the bottom left of my post.It came with a 20" Monitor and free Kaspersky 2010.

And it runs quicker Win7 64bit Ultimate quicker than it ran Vista 64bit home premium.[/QUOTE]

No, you are not asking for to much.

You cannot expect everything to work for everyone, yes I agree that things should work as advertised but I am only being realistic and saying that its impossible. Even if everyone had the same hardware, same OS, same way/form of using the PC, there will always be problem. Regardless of the OS/Hardware.

Oh, you missed a huge chunk of my post, in your quote, by the way. :)

If you are having problems doing the above from a retail version you have done something very wrong if you cannot use google or your email.

As for games, they can tricky, then you come here.

Im not trying to put you down or anything but maybe you should have had someone else install Win7 and check it for any problems before you used it.

I'm confused as to why setting up your email is such a problem. Are you using online mail like gmail...or are you using some sort of POP/SMTP combination and need a software package installed in order to get/send your mail?

Hmmm....gaming on PC's has always been a bit of a trial and error and constant fiddling. Been that way as far as I can remember. That's why I went to consoles for most gaming needs...as they are far simpler.

So, what happens on your computer and you launch Internet Explorer? Do you have issues right out of the box trying to get to http://www.google.com??

You're taking me way, way, way, way too literal. Yes Google works, Yes games work (kinda). Overall I'm just not blown away with Win 7 like some other are. Keep in mind this was a clean install on an XP system. It was clean from the very start. I doubt having someone else do the install would have had much of an impact on its overall operation. I'm not stupid. I'm just not someone that chooses to spend all of my time to make a computer do what it should do in the first place. I have other interests and hobbies.

This is exactly true...take a car for instance

If your car breaks down...you take it to a mechanic (most people in the world cannot fix cars...). No single car will never break down...eventually you will have to pay to fix it...some will pay more than others. No one buys a car expecting it to "just work" 100% of the time

Now lets look at computers...You bought Win7 Upgrade...performed an upgrade (I am guessing...maybe a clean install)...and expect it to work 100% of the time at doing a variety of tasks that most don't involve Microsoft and their OS at all. Microsoft developed Windows...they didn't develop Google, they didn't develop email (besides Outlook, Live Mail, and Exchange), they didn't develop most of the games on the market (besides the ones from Microsoft Studios), they didn't develop your hardware (besides a few mice, keyboards, and webcams) and they didn't develop non-Microsoft software. I could go on all day but the point is that you are BLAMING MICROSOFT FOR PROBLEMS THAT THEY DIDN'T CREATE!!!! Did XP work 100% of the time for you? If you say yes...than that would be the biggest unbelievable statement I have ever heard...

I am curious...so please humble me

What do you expect an OS like Windows...heck any OS to do 100% of the time? Please don't try to exaggerate...

Keep in mind that some people absolutely love change and others don't. Some people think Mac's are the greatest computers ever made, while I don't really care for them at all. It's ok to not be blown away by the new version of Windows. Honestly, if you had XP and it met your needs, wasn't costing you anything and you didn't suffer from problems on it.....I can see not having a need to make a change.

I find it interesting that you don't seem like you want to tinker a lot with the computer (and there is nothing wrong with that) but you are also a user of Ubuntu Linux. I don't really know too many people who are Linux users who don't like to tinker.
