I don't understand the Windows 7 .wim structure

I wanted to do some editing to the Windows 7 .wim, but I don't understand the structure. There are four folders, and they all seem to have the exact same structure and content.

Why would you want to mess with the install manager? Doing so might bork any install that you try to do.

That makes so much sense. I was thinking it may have to do with versions.

It's not like I'm bored or something. I only knew of nLite/vLite and that the dev didn't know if he'd make one for Win7 and Win8. Then I came across someone who did make one. My idea was to make something like nLite but for 7 and 8.
