Cant login to my laptop only seeing login background image

When i start my laptop it boots to windows no problems but when it gets to the login screen i only see the logon background image nothing else, no welcome message it just sits there on the logon background image. It also flickers every so often like its trying to load something because i get the hourglass next to the cursor for a few seconds. There is only 1 user and i dont have a password to login it should go straight to the desktop.

I ran SFC chkdsk /r no issues found. I disabled kaspersky using ERD Commander and turned off any kaspersky drivers. startup repair wont fix it. windows restore errors out (0x8000ffff).

Any help with this matter would be great.

Hello efrum, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Here's some information about the system restore error code 0x8000ffff.

"0x8000ffff" error message when you try to restore a Windows 7-based computer by using System Restore

You might see if you may be able to boot into Safe Mode, then see if you are able to successfully do a system restore.

Hope this helps for now, :)

Are you able to boot into safe mode at all?

If so, you could see if troubleshooting with a clean startup may help reveal a cause.

You could try booting from a system repair disc to see if you may be able to do a system restore from it. If you don't have one, then you could create one on another 64-bit Windows to use on your PC.
