My friend just told me that he believes that on the RC, it is defaulted so that the user account I made was "The Administrator" account, which is why I had no problems with permissions. And he just recommended that I disable "The Administrator" account and just rename it to my name and it'll be just like the RC was for me.

I don't consider it wise to always run as full admin. If something bad manages to get in, it will have full reign of the computer. Windows Seven security is, for the most part, gone.

An addendum to my post above: It isn't a good idea to change the permissions on a folder like System32 - you will break some functionality.

I would STRONGLY recommend taking ownership of only the files you have issues with.

Go to user accounts in control panel. Click on change your account type. Make it admin.
Not most secure but how 99.9% people run and generally fine for the most part.

If you can't do this, use method 2.

A bit of a tangent to the discussion, but according to a discussion that I had with a MS rep a few days ago, no retail version of Windows 7 has been released yet...only the Upgrade, OEM or Family Pack.

That can't be correct. For one thing, Technet versions of Windows are supposed to be retail and they have been available to subscribers for months, unless that doesn't count as "released."

If it is available in the stores (Online or Real), and does not have "for distribution only with a new PC" or similar to state it is an OEM copy then it is by definition "Retail" this includes the full install upgrade and family pack

I'm only relaying what the MS rep said...but then every tech that I spoke to told me conflicting things on a different subject. It's sad when there is so much confusion when you go to the "horse's mouth".
