Did you shut the system down or was there a system problem which caused the shutdown? Post back more details about the situation.

"sum other messages come up about entering a command line" ... don't know what you mean by that. Is it possible to make a camshot of it and post it?

If bootmgr is missing the "boot manager" is missing ... without a boot manager a boot menu is useless and th OS doesn't load of course. Sure it says "boot manager is missing"? Or "boot manager is compressed"????

Did you mark another partition ACTIVE prior to problems?
Did you delete files? c:\bootmgr is the problem.
Did you shutdown the machine by just powering it off?
