Apparently it is something I am using and need to know so I can register with Windows 8 forum.

Usually OS stands for Operating System, for example Windows 7 x64.
Where do you see this?

Thanks pbcopter for the quick reply.
I have just made a giant leap for mankind, and gone from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and my 74 year old brain is bubbling with blind confusion. I might even wear out the forums in the the near future.
