System stuttering and lagging after long uptime

After my computer is left on for a period of time (anywhere from a few hours to a day or two), it starts lagging and stuttering. A "spike of lag" occurs every few seconds, temporarily freezing the system (typing/mouse movement is affected, sound isn't). It can't be a RAM issue because I have 16GB of RAM and task manager shows that only 50% of my memory is being used. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Rebooting solves the issue immediately but it is a pain to reboot all the time.

You state that 50% of 16 gigs of ram is being used. That is a very large amount of ram being used.

You can look in Task Manager and see if you can see what is using all the ram.

You could also go into msconfig/Startup and see what programs are starting at boot and running in the background that do need to start at boot.

When you ram is being 50 % used could you post a picture like this.
