Microsoft Fixit - Accept button missing / dpi setting stuck

    O/S: Win7 Starter on a Samsung notebook.

Whilst trying to fix a file/folder problem, which was the subject of my first post here, I tried using the above software but couldn't procede with it because the "Accept" button wasn't visible on the GUI. The same applies to other versions of Fixit on this laptop

This is what it should look like:

Mine cuts off just below the image of the guy with the wrench at any screen resolution.
But it is a defined cut off, it isn't the bottom edge disappearing off screen out of view.

Pressing Enter just opens the web link on the interface.

This is a small notebook and to compensate for the screen size I have the dpi up at 140
for easy reading so I tried reducing it to default and logging off/restarting but it remains stuck there for some reason.

Now I don't know if rectifying the stuck dpi setting will bring the Fixit "accept" or "cancel" buttons back into view because I haven't had such a problem with other softs.

I tried the software "resize enable" but the Fixit GUI doesn't want to play ball and won't resize.

No restore point corrects this and I have extensively scanned for malware -none.

I had one of those Samsung Netbooks. There were some tweaks on the internet a couple of years ago, about the screen size/resolution. Do a seach, that may help your situation.

I didn't keep the Netbook very long, and moved to a 'real" laptop.

However, your problem with the Microsoft Fixit. I've never fixed something with that. It always required something other than the fixit program.

Thanks I didn't find anything so far, but really I guess my query is predominantly about dpi settings that used to be adjustable but now any changes made aren't saved. Why would that be? I can change screen resolution and other stuff O'K.

I have several 'real' laptops but they are pretty useless when away from power points camping. They take ages to charge and run down quickly, whereas the Samsung np150 is very quick to charge, runs for a good length of time and can be charged from the car cigarette lighter socket with a dc adapter without depleting the battery even when the car isn't running.

    Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
You might try windows snap if aero is enabled ?
Grab the top of the windows and snap it to the far left or right of your screen,
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/snap
Make sure your on the recommended dpi setting,
    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/443-dpi-display-size-settings-change.html

What issues were you using this Mr. Fixit for ?

From what I remember, Aero wasn't available on the Samsung Netbook I had.

I tried editing log pixels value as per Option Two in the link you posted Thrashzone but it wouldn't let me change the value and threw up a writing error (no error number). Hi! thanks for the welcome.

I already knew the first Option for changing dpi but that way doesn't stick after logging off or restarting.

I don't think the reg file would work either but I'm hesitant to try it as it looks to change several keys and I'd want to easily return to a custom dpi of 140 again afterwards.

I had a problem with the "Group By" folder view option being greyed out and along the way tried Fixit as a possible solution. But I resolved the view issue with a much older Restore point than I initially tried before posting here.

No this notebook doesn't have Aero.

I'm beginning to wonder whether Cryptoprevent has left some protections in place, I uninstalled it a few weeks ago because I got fed up of having to disable protection and reboot every time I installed a program that wanted to install to protected Directories.

    Hi,
I would guess your set way to high for your screen resolution
I would reset it using safe mode or clean boot don't go over 125% dpi adjust the page zoom rate for the rest of your viewing needs,
    Cheers.

Click Start and type msconfig in the search box,
    Click on the suggestion,
    Post your Startup section,
See the link above my sig on how to make and upload screen shot here.

Hit tab twice, then hit the spacebar. That should get you to the accept button. I'll let the others deal with the screen resolution issue.

That worked andrew, it took me to the next window in Fixit and all the following buttons were visible.
    Thank you.

I've run a few fixit's and they aren't coming up with anything other
than flagging problems I don't have.
