How to deactivate touch pad after downgrade from Win 8?

Before downgrade from Win 8, my Mouse properties had a tab that allowed me to deactivate the touch pad.

In Win 7, I don't see this tab in Mouse properties.

I would be grateful for any assistance.

The F3 key definitely has an icon that resembles a touch pad. (I wasn't aware of that before.)

    However, Fn+F3 has no effect.

    I wasn't aware of Win+x.

I see a lot of useful info, such as brightness, mute, and battery. But there's no mention of touch pad.

It should have been one of the drivers that I installed yesterday. I ran it again today, and it asked me if I wanted to remove, repair, or re-install. So I suppose that proves that I installed it yesterday. I selected "Repair", and rebooted. The only visible difference is that I now have a "9" icon in the sytem tray. Is that it? The icon is completely inert. It does not respond to single-click, double-click, or right-click.

What is it supposed to do? Where is it installed? (Not in Start Programs, or Device Manager. "Search" finds only the driver in the download folder.)
