Just what I said above. I have tried everything. Does anyone know how to cure this annoying time consuming issue?

Hello Debey and welcome to Sevenforums!

Could you please go into more detail on what you have tried?

Typically this is a problem with sensitivity. Go to Mouse Settings and turn down the sensitivity.

Another option would be to update your mouse drivers.

Other than that I would like to know what you have tried so we can narrow it down if the above doesn't help

    Gator Thanks

I use a laptop, no mouse just the touchpad. Windows 7. Recently trying to "fix" another problem, I may have caused this issue. I see instructions for "mouse" settings and not the touchpad. I have tried everything, even calling MICROSOFT and they want to sell me an extended warranty. It's a HP computer. I have been into every setting and settings I did not know existed. I saw on another site to lock the numeric input, I did thinking maybe. NOT. Even typing this I am having this issue. Not much help, am I. As a last resort, I will throw it out the window.

The scratchpad option that caused me grief was "double tap to click".

I'd try to drag an item, which invariably requires multiple swipes and I'd eventually trigger the "double tap to click" function; carnage ensued.
