    Remove shield icon

I have a nice black and white custom desktop theme going on and I want to remove the elevated icon shield from a program icon. It's the yellow and blue icon. I had a problem running rainmeter and had to run it in winxp compatability mode and that shield icon is harshing my desktop.

    Hello Hippye,

You cannot remove the sheild by default. However, you might try creating a new elevated shortcut for it instead as a workaround.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks Brink for that tip. I will try that with Ultimate Windows Tweaker (which too requires administrator privileges, it seems). I would be most interested to know how you came across the tip in the first place. Thanks a mill.

by the way, I have just created a new 'How-Tos' folder in FF
and I have bookmarked your elevated shortcut tip in it, along
with other very useful how-tos in it, for future reference.

How can we remove the (yellow-blue) UAC icon that overlay on our executable files without changing UAC Settings or compromising on security? Also how to avoid that pop-up message that says you need administrative writes to continue.
