How to disable SETUP password in dos?

I had to swap a motherboard on a dell latitude 3330 laptop. Went to assign service tag and find out the old 1 was not wiped clean.

So I go into dos and do "asset /S <service tag>. Then it asks if I'm sure, yes.

I then get " cannot change service tag due to SETUP password is enabled.

So my question, how can I delete the old service tag, besides ordering another mobo?

    Thank you

The service tag will stay with the old motherboard, or could send to Dell.

So there is no way to disable the SETUP password in bios, so I can update the service tag?

I would not suggest changing the service tag. It's supposed to be permanently assigned to the motherboard.

Having said that, Dell documentation should tell you how to clear the password.

My experience has been that there's 2 password settings available in the BIOS, one to prevent loading the OS and the other to prevent making changes to the BIOS. Sometimes it works to remove the CMOS battery, unplug the power or Notebook/Laptop battery and wait awhile, let the CMOS get completely discharged then the user settings will be cleared.

And this all takes place before DOS/Disk Operating System loads or before any disc has been connected.
