Will the drive be unlocked after installing new windows

So here's the thing..I have a dell n5050 laptop , it happens that I downloaded a file yesterday which infected my laptop and therefor everytime I restart the compture 3 msgs shows up ( winlogon. Slui . And explorer.exe failed because of the missing sl2.dll file ) I searched on the Internet but found no solution so I decided to install a new copy of windows., a clean one. While installing I first accidentaly formatted the x: partition which I guess was the system reserved partition ln which there is boot files.. not only that but I formatted also the C: drive and theerefor there's no operating system existing.. now whenever I open my laptop it says bootmg ( I guess ) is missing ctrl + alt + dlt to restart, I've tried several things but nothing worked so I'm taking it to a professional .. the thing is I have very important and private files on the e: drive which I already locked it with bitlocker before.. my question is can I not format that drive? If yes will the bitlocker lock be gone if I installed new copy of windows which means that the drive would be accessible to the professional guy? Thank you for helping me.

    Hi

Dive letters are assigned by Windows and usually Windows installation disk won't shows drive letters. So i am not sure how did you formatted the "X:" drive. This is how partitioning screen will looks like when booted from an install DVD/USB.

My best guess is you tried to run setup from within Windows . In that case drive letters will be showed.

Either way your data will be safe as long as you leaved the encrypted drive untouched. "Bitlocker" is OS independent and work if you re-install OS or hook the HDD to another PC.

    Hi

Formatting the Windows partition is actually the recommended step to do a clean e-install so nothing wrong with that. If you are absolutely sure that only "System Reserved" and "C" are formatted and the data drive is untouched, simply install Windows and you are good to go. But if you can't identify which partition is which, i would suggest requesting help from a friend or a PC tech and let them do the job. I am petty sure that the last thing you wanted will be is to screw the encrypted partition accidentally and loss the data.
