system freeze after wake; reboot; all apps restored - normal??

One day i woke my computer out of sleep and almost nothing left up from the previous evening worked. I could navigate a little. Couldn't get to the start menu; couldn't get to task manager. I had to do a hard reboot and left it down for 15 seconds. But when the computer came back up, it restored everything that was previously running, as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened. And then everything worked. Is this expected behavior in Win 7?

    Thanks,

It sounds like it was Hibernate and not Sleep in this case. Desktop computers often come with Hybrid Sleep, so if Sleep fails(power's been cut off) then Hibernate will restore your apps from disk. Sleep only restores from memory.

And that's exactly what I observed. I mean, when it's "sleeping", it's only using 3.4 watts. When it's awake it uses around 110 watts. So that's what happened.

    Thanks for responding, Tookeri.
