    The unremovable startup program :)

    Hi all,

    I have a rather annoying problem with a perticular program that keeps running at startup

    The program itself has the option to "run at startup", but it keeps enabling itself again ...

    So I thought I'd just manually remove it entirely from any place causing it to run at start. Problem is: it's nowhere to be found. No entry in MSCONFIG, no link in the startup folder, no task in task scheduler, ...

    Does anyone have an idea on how to proceed ?

    Do you have "Autoruns" installed on your system? If not, I would suggest using it to find the startup location;

    Actually, I do haha, forgot all about it

    Autoruns was indeed able to locate it for me. Apparently it waspresent as a link in some obscure part of my hard drive, in a startup folder yet not showing in the start menu. Hence the confusion on my part ...

    SOLVED !

    Put msconfig in the Search or Run box [if you have it] on the Start menu then in the Startup section uncheck it if present.

    Hello Azz,

    In addition, check the startup locations in the tutorial below to see if the program may be listed in one of them. If so, you can either disabled or remove it.

    Hope this helps for now, :)

    Services and drivers

    Sometimes a program runs as a service so check services (and drivers if any) and set startup to disabled if that particular program is running as a service. Do not set system critical services or drivers to disabled as it could cause huge problems!

    Pserv can control startup type for services and drivers:

    Run from:

    Also check your startup programs folder:

    Why not just let us all know what this software is?
