Computer unusually slow, and other problems.

I recently got a new Laptop. It worked for about a week. then the troubles began. Usually when I run a program it will take an excessive amount of time. When the program opens, when I click on it, it suddenly stops responding and I can't close it. Also, when I opened taskmgr to kill the processes, I tried clicking on it and instead of Not Responding, it made an Error noise. Any help would be appreciated.

    Welcome to SF :) .

Do those symptoms happen all around the OS with various pieces of software,
or with a specific one (or few)?

Okay, please fill out your system specifications so we'll know what we are dealing with.

    Thanks.
That kind of behaviour can be caused by several factors, such as CPU overheating and throttling,
    defective HDD, RAM.

Let's tackle them one by one.

    *(EDIT)*
Why does it take long for you to reply?

I thought it was the disk so here's the CHKDISK log:
    CHKDSKResults.txt
I'm not sure if it's the disk or not, hopefully you can check that.

I also thought it was the cooling so I attached an ice pack (lol) to the bottom of the laptop, and it's cooling down. I saw the temperature going down but still no performance change. :c

Not sure what "CPU throttling" means but that could be the case.
It may be defective RAM, since I recently put in a new stick of ram (a 2GB RAM stick to replace the 1GB ram that came from it). I still have the 1GB stick of RAM. Should I maybe put that back in?

    *(EDIT2)*
I Took out the faulty 2GB stick and replaced it with the old 1GB stick. It works perfectly now. I guess I should go and get some new pair of 2GB RAM sticks now! Thank you?

Yes, you should thank someone for trying to help you. Not questionably say it.
