    Cannot see My Pictures folder

    Hi,

I somehow deleted the 'My Pictures' folder whilst using OneDrive and now cannot get it back.

Briefly - I was trying to understand the 'My Folders' set up in Windows 7 (I come from XP) and how the these folders 'tie into' folders on my OneDrive space. I managed to 'move' the location of 'My Pictures' so that it pointed to OneDrive, but when I deleted the folder on OneDrive, it deleted the 'My Pictures' folder on my PC. My first attempt was to follow the instructions here:

User Folders - Restore Default Location

..this didn't seem to work. However, it was not until I got to page 3 of 26 of this thread that I saw this link:

    Libraries - Restore Default

..and I thought, "ah, ahhh.. that's what I want, 'restore default' - not 'restore to default location'..!" So I tried it and still didn't work. I then read something about the 'My' folders being hidden (Libraries - Hidden and Empty Fix) but that didn't work either.

And yes, I've tried 'turning it off and on again' so many times - but the My Pictures folder will just not appear.

Appreciate any advice - especially as it was on my girlfriends logon..! (luckily only 1 picture in it!)

    Thank you

    Hi ICit2lol,

Thanks for your suggestion but are you saying there is no other possibility seeing a 'My Pictures' folder again via without resorting to 3rd party software.

Think I'll hold out for another method first, but thanks anyway..

    Hello Staffs,

To help clarify, is your "My Pictures" folder missing from inside your Pictures library, missing from the "C:\Users\(user-name)" folder location, or both?

It looks like it's just missing from your Pictures library.

If so, then adding your "C:\Users\Lou\Pictures" folder to be included in the Pictures library should sort this for you.

    Hi Brink,

    If I understand you correctly:

    A - Rename [C:\Users\Lou\Pictures] to [C:\Users\Lou\My Pictures]
B - Right mouse click [C:\Users\Lou\My Pictures] and 'Include in Library'

Done the above and I now have a folder in my Libraries called 'My Pictures'. However, I'm a bit confused...

1 - I deleted a 'My' folder (I understand these are 'special' folders?)
2 - I followed instructions from this site (including a registry change) to get it back
3 - I still could not see a 'My Pictures' folder (However, I now had as per instruction a 'Pictures' folder)
4 - Renamed 'Pictures' folder to 'My Pictures'
5 - Right mouse clicked it and said, 'Include in Libraries'

I get the uncomfortable feeling that I've missed something here? Have I not just created a folder called [C:\Users\Lou\Pictures] and renamed it to [C:\Users\Lou\My Pictures] then included it in Libraries? How do I confirm it is indeed, a 'special folder'?

Thanks for your help Brink and thanks too for the tutorials - a lot of work I know..!

The folder's true name is "C:\Users\Lou\Pictures", but the folder just shows as "My Pictures" when it is working properly.

Double check each step in OPTION TWO in the tutorial below again to make sure that everything is set properly.

User Folders - Restore Default Location

Once your "My Pictures" folder shows properly at your "C:\Users\Lou\Pictures" location, add the folder to your Pictures Library. The path will show as "C:\Users\Lou\Pictures" even though the folder shows as "My Pictures. :)
