PC taking long time to startup (boot only)

The laptop i currently having problems is the Acer Aspire 4930.
This is one of my friends laptop and he gave up on taking care on it.
I popped the back cover and the front keyboard to remove some dust inside it.
This laptop was working after i popped it.

    Fixes I have tried:

    - Reformatting
    - Reseating Ram and Hard Drive
    - Changed Hard Drive
    - Checked CPU Speed
    - run sfc /scannow
    - run chkdsk

    Specs of the PC

    Intel Core 2 Duo T5800
    Intel Express Chipset 45

Mysteriously, at desktop it does not lag or freeze.

    EDIT: Fixes I tried:
    - msconfig
    - memtest
    - CCleaner

The term "a long time" is subjective; how long does it take in actual minutes and seconds? You could also try using MSconfig for diagnostic purposes.

Disable all startup programs and see whether that helps.

       Warning
Back up before performing any of these steps

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    • run "MSCONFIG" From the run command "Windows key + R" scroll across to start up items, and disable anything you dont need to run when you turn on the computer.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Perform a Full Virus scan with Malware Bytes and Avast, and post results before you remove anything.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download CCleaner and run a clean up.
When Cleaning up your registry be sure to back up

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Post back after and i will give you some more tips.

    • Nothing, no startups at all are needed to run the computer. The only useful startup is that of the AV program. But this particular one is often the cause of slow boot.

Maybe i should re-word my template to "items you would like" :)

Sure, you may have startups that you created yourself which you want to keep. I myself have two - the Rocket Dock and the Jing snipping tool. But that is usually not the typical scenario for the average user.

Is this factory preinstalled Win7 which is the worst possible install one can have of Win7, larded with bloatware and useless duplicate utilities which interfere with better versions built into Win7?

That's why most tech enthusiasts will not run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything is provided in the blue link tutorial.

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If this doesn't resolve performance problems, work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

In hours, it takes 3 hours, for now it takes 1 Hour and 35 Minutes, some services are running, and I have tried the msconfig procedure.

This one is a fresh install, not from factory discs from acer
