Windows 7: Freezes make me reboot

This is why we always suggest using the drivers provided by Win7 via Windows Updates, after enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3).

Many users coming off of XP want to inject drivers like this is XP, but it is not. Win7 is the first driver-complete OS. In Windows 8 and now 10 users don't even participate with drivers. It is all done in the background using advancements developed in Win7.

Are you saying this specifically for this installation based on trial and error, or are you making a blanket statement of XPired nonsense?

Manufacturers submit drivers to Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL) which vet them for the OS and then either load them into Windows Update or seek modifications to perform better. Gradually almost all drivers are provided either in the installer or Windows Update. Because there is no SP2 for Win7 we need to rely more heavily on Updates to deliver drivers, goosed some by enabling Automatically deliver drivers via Windows Update (Step 3)
