    Drag & drop not functioning

I am using Win7 Ultimate 64bit on a HP Touchsmart. Drag & drop is not working for some reason & I have tried all the fixes like holding the mouse button & hitting escape but nothing works. I have a Logitech Trackball mouse but I tried another mouse with the same results. I hope someone can help me with this.

I use 2 methods for diagnosing such a problem, first is to reboot into Safe Mode and try to drag and drop a file in Windows Explorer and the other is to boot to a Linux LiveCD/LiveDVD and do the same, should confirm or eliminate whether it's a hardware issue.

    See here:

Diagnose and repair Windows File and Folder Problems automatically

    Then try sfc:

Please Run sfc /scan now using option 2 in this tutorial: SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

    Please post back the results.
Please indicate what message was displayed at the end:

    Windows found no integrity violations

    OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows was unable to fix them.

    OR

Corrupt files were found, and windows successfully repaired them

I ran this & it found 3 problems & corrected them. Seems to have worked. Thanks a bunch!
