F2 Rename Shortcut - Customize to Highlight Section?

I'm trying to configure the F2 rename file shortcut to highlight only the text before the first symbol, possibly with AHK. Does this sound possible?

Ex) File name: "PhotoKFB.38848", F2 highlights only "PhotoKFB"

Thanks a bunch!

Welcome to the forum.

I don't think that is possible without third party software. Your requirement seems very specialized and it seems unlikely anyone would have done this. It is possible a third party file manager would have such a feature but I have never seen it, and I have seen many.

Thanks for the welcome and reply!

Just wanted to note I'm totally open to a third party software solution, this is for a commercial process.

Something small like that you may be able to get here:

If they balk because it is a commercial application you can post for help in AHK here:

Edit: It seems like something you could do by using Send to send a shift down then right arrow to select until the character under the caret is ':' or some idea such as that.

I press F2 than Ctrl+A to do this. Maybe you could setup AHK to do that?
