    BSOD has me hostage

I have a similar problem, I just bought an external hd. I installed it last night and left it backing up all my files. This morning when I opened the external to check the files it could not read the files. Ok so reformatted the external. So I'm on the computer and it's running a little slow so I shut it down, when it started up all I got was a black screen and the cursor after several attempt even on safe mode, all I got was the black screen. I even disconnected the ext. hd and nothing.
I cannot ctrl-alt-del, safe mode in anyway. I forced a shut down and F9 ran all the test and passed. F8 start repair checked diagnosis it says completed successfully error code 0x0.

System restore nothing happens when I high light the dates that are listed. I get this error
    rstrui.exe application error
the instruction at 0x05ed6859. The memory could not be read.

I've tried sfc/scannow from the command prompt which I'm only able to get when I started F8. I get this message, There is a system repair pending which requires a reboot to complete, restart windows and run sfc again, but I can't reboot.

However I did see another date that there was a successful reboot is there any way to input that date? Through the command prompt that I can access from F8. I just want to get to my hard drive to transfer all my files in the external hard drive I just purchased. I need suggestions I am a novice.
