how do i remove 3rd party splash screens?

Hi, on retiring I was given the opportunity to purchase my work laptop from my employer, with operating system (win 7 32 bit enterprise).the Employers Logon was removed but not the splash screen with the organisations legal technical blurb ect. which seems to sit on top of the standard windows logon screen. It does not prevent me from logging on but is annoying. can anyone advise please I am not hugely technical but can follow instructions and can find my way round regedit ect.

First of all, you should have been granted a local administrator account to begin managing it. With that account make sure you take the machine out of the corporate domain into a workgroup. For personal usage it's not needed and it will also prevent running domain logon scripts, which may cause those splashes.

If it still persists, I would suggest to run Autoruns, a program that shows most programs that runs on startup. There you possibly can find what cause the screens. Try those and tell us how it goes.

Some years ago I saw a couple of Notebooks with that issue and all we could figure out was the BIOS was customized to include that information and nothing could be done about it without buying a new BIOS, unfortunately one was a surplus police department machine.
