Some of the C's are lower case, would changing to upper case help????
If you're messing in the registry ... Did you back it up first ??
This topic of previous versions brings back memories. I was one of the last of my group to give up on DOS. Most all of my friends had Windows 3.1 in the early 1990's. One guy that had 3.1 gave me his disks of Windows 3.0 so that I could have Windows. I had never heard of that, I had always thought 3.1 was the first released. Anyway, I didn't install 3.0 and purchased 3.1 instead. That was in 1994. I have had every version except ME, which I think I wisely avoided. XP has been really good. No more crashes like in previous versions. I am looking forward to installing Win 7.
If it still works .. back it up now .. Just to be safe.
Do I hear a lot of Hornets buzzing
You apparently have never worked with the registry. May I suggest that you enlist the help of a friend that is used to that kind of work. Registry work is iffy and needs some practice - backup is always a must.
In case you want to go any further by yourself, I suggest you study these tutorials first:

I don't know how to back up.
Changed all the lower case c's to upper case C's and still the explorer window appears.
Guy's, I'm sure to someone with high level of computer skills see the value of 7, but to a journeyman lke me this is just stress inducing which I never had wth XP.
And typing on this forum missing letters doesn't help.
