Recovering gamma data from crashed drive
The C: drive crashed on my machine. Not completely but bad enough that I no longer trust it. This is an HP machine so it has the HP "flavor" of Windows 7 that does not allow a "repair' (like the retail copy does), only a re-install. But that is not my issue.
I used this as an excuse to install a new SSD and the RETAIL version of Windows 7 (using the original license key from HP; totally legal). I had previously used a borrowed screen adjustment tool to set the gamma data on this machine (I do a lot of photo work with Lightroom).
- Is the gamma data stored in a file that can be copied from the old hard drive ?
- I CAN boot the old hard drive, although I would not call it a "stable" system. Is there utility I can use to store the gamma data to a file that then can be copied and imported on to the new system drive (after a reboot and making it the C: drive)
