    stuck on applying update operation

Hi, whenever I try to start windows I get applying update operation 414 of 414 (\Registry\Machine\Compnent\I...)

I've tried to repair startup and I get a message similar to this

    Problem signature
    Startup repair offline
    1 - 6.1.7600.16385
    2 - 6.1.7600.16385
    3 - unknown
    4 - 21200332
    5 - autofailover
    6 - 4
    7 - NoRootCause

    Any help would be appreciated

also if I press the hold the power button it goes into sleep mode but if I hold the power button while its resuming from sleep it will turn off

Try a System Restore from System Recovery Options as far back as necessary.

Windows Update always creates a Restore point so I would be sure, or you have some deeper system issues if it isn't.

How did you attempt to run System Restore exactly? Try it from the disk.

f8 > repair your computer > select keyboard > enter PW > system restore

also this happened after I shutdown my computer because it was stuck on preparing to configure windows for an hour

The only way I'm aware to resolve this is via System Restore, so try again from the disk System Recovery Options.

well that doesn't work but I am able to look at all my files on my win 7 partition because I have an Ubuntu installation cd , anything I can do in there to fix this?

I asked our Updates expert to look at this so stand by.

Back up any files you need using the Ubuntu disk meanwhile as you might be faced with doing a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. If you haven't done one yet then you're long overdue since its a vastly superior install to the factory install which is always one of the worst installs of Win7 one can have.

hmm I tried last successful configuration startup and it booted into windows fine, it installed an update, then restarted.
then it booted up into windows.. said failure configuring windows reverting update... restarted... booted into windows ... said failure configuring windows updates reverting changes again.
