Random Monitor Blackouts on Startup
That probably isn't a good thread title, but this issue has been plaguing me for so long that I'm not even sure what to call it. I custom built my computer last November, and noticed this issue on a couple different monitors.
My screen will randomly blackout during/after startup. The computer will still be functioning just fine (if I am watching a video, the audio still plays, I can still pause or play the video/game), but the visual display will stop. The monitor's LED indicator still thinks it is on as well. The blackout lasts anywhere from a few seconds, to a few minutes, if it displays at all.
When I put my system into sleep mode, it will start again with several blackouts, but usually not display anything until I restart the system. The BIOS splash screen/windows loading screen will usually be blacked out or flicker on for a brief second, but I can enter the BIOS.
The issue seems to disappear after I restart my computer a few times, although the startup screens still do not usually display. I also recently tried taking the motherboard battery out and putting it back in, and this seemed to resolve the issue for two days or so. After a few startups, the issue would return.
Otherwise, reseating the graphics card and RAM has not done anything to improve things. I have reinstalled the drivers for the graphics card, and not noticed any change in the behaviors
Some days, my computer needs several restarts before the issue largely disappears, and on others, it works pretty well on the first try. I'm in school right now, and don't want to take the time to take it all apart if it is some sort of obvious issue I have been missing until now.
I've looked at the Error report (and have no idea what it means), but there aren't any errors that are consistent with the blackouts. If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it, as I am at my wits end!
