Can I sell my copy Win 7?

I received Windows 7 Ultimate - Signature Edition as a gift from Microsoft. Since I no longer have it installed my system (I use Linux now) can I sell it now?
If not could I at least install it to another computer If I don't charge for it?

Most likely I would remove XP from my wife's computer and install Win 7 there.

    Thank you for your help.

From what I see it's a Retail license so you can install it on a different PC, but only use it on one PC at a time.
If it has the words "Not For Resale" (NFR) then technically the answer is no, you can't sell it.
So you should be ok installing it on your wife's PC.

Here is an MS thread about this:

I'd put it on the wife's computer since WinXP is not longer supported but it will have to be a clean install. And since it didn't come with a computer it most likely will be ok, the Retail version can be put on a Replacement computer which would be the situation with your wife. And do check the compatibility to see what else you'll need in the way of drivers and what software will need attention.

I have that disk and it doesn't come with SP1, so you'll be saving yourself a lot of time and trouble to download the latest official installer for Ultimate 64 SP1 bit w/media refresh then use the tool also provided to burn to DVD or stick, from steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

Those same steps will assure you get and keep a perfect install for as long as you stick with them.

Treat it like gold? Heck, it IS gold! I also support the suggestion to install it on your wife's XP machine (after checking for compatibility first). XP is no longer receiving security support from Microsoft and is ripe for virus and other malware infections.

It does have "Not For Resale" on it but since really the computer my wife uses actually is mine then I guess I won't have to worry about anything when I go to activate it. It's already been deleted off my main PC.
