    Weird Crashes That Disable Desktop?!

Hello everyone, really hope someone can help me out here.

Recently, I've been experiencing weird crashes on my computer. Basically my computer will "crash" at random times, but in a strange way. Whatever task I'm currently doing will be closed, the start button and task bar will completely disappear, all my desktop icons will disappear and the only thing that shows is my desktop wallpaper. I can't right click anywhere on the desktop, it's literally just my background and nothing else.

Now, I can CTRL ALT DEL, so it seems that its just the desktop crashing somehow? Its getting really annoying now because I have to CTRL ALT DEL and log off, then log back on again to get my desktop back.

    Any ideas guys?

Usually when that situation occurs it meant that Windows Explorer had crashed. Logging off or restarting suggest a problem with memory so I'd start by getting memtest86 and run it several times to check your RAM.
