Hello Everybody
I am new to this forum. I hope to expand my knowledge and improve my computer skills.
Jim here. Been in IT since the mid 80s. My first computer was an Atari-ST; my first IBM compatible computer was the original IBM-PC. I don't recall the exact date of the computer, but the BIOS date indicated that IBM had just added support for hard drives the day before that date! MS-DOS 3.3 / WordStar was where I started at, doing helpdesk for a small company. My first modem was 1200 baud.
My first Windows version was 3.1. For a while, I used Windows only as a way to run multiple DOS sessions simultaneously. My first remote control software was Carbon Copy. Nice to use, except that it would often crash when you got to 99% on the file you were downloading! We then moved to PC Anywhere, which was far superior to Carbon Copy.
In 1993 I got a bachelor's degree in Computer Science. I started out as a programmer, but I soon realized that I was much better suited to doing desktop support. For the past 20 or so years, I have done desktop support or helpdesk in large corporate settings.
Just got here and want to say hello.
I've got a 4 year old computer that is starting to get laggy and I need to do some clean up and some tuneup.
Audition 2017 basically lags so much it is useless.
I won't bother with the details now but I'd like to ask if this is the sort of thing I can get some help with here?
If so I'll get more detailed later.
So, happy to be here and again, greetings!
