How do you do that in Ubuntu? Your link illustrates how to Mark Partition Active in Windows 7 only...

The links also show how these operations are done from the Win7 disk System Recovery Options Command line which applies in this case.

I would not delete the Dell Utility partition as long as Diagnostics boot via F12 as these are valuable and often will still boot to run after reinstall.

Ok, i got the Windows 7 installation disc and marked the 101 MB disk partition as active like you suggested from this link Partition - Mark as Active . I restarted the computer and it shows the GRUB rescue mode now...it says

upon typing ls I got

I can no longer even log in to Ubuntu anymore. I'm starting to worry...PLEASE HELP!!

Edit: I found another post with grub rescue issue and there it said to run these commands in command prompt from Windows 7 disc:

The first command showed error and second command was ok then when i restarted it says "MISSING OPERATING SYSTEM"...Please help guys...

-All of these six commands show same thing as "select disk 0" command i.e. 38 command names from ACTIVE to UNIQUEID with their decription.

-Yes, I read #21 but I was hoping for some other way to recover Windows without deleting my UBUNTU contents...but I'm willing to sacrifice UBUNTU at the moment...I installed UBUNTU in somewhat similar manner previously too...

-So, I guess I should run Startup Repair three times now??
