Reflash a BIOS that has corrupted

So here's my problem. I was recently upgrading my Dell Vostro 3350 bios (using the .exe file from the website) from A07 version to A10 version. Suddenly, *boom*. Power failure. And then, when I try to turn it on, nothing happens. Black screen. No bios. No boot. Just the lights and the fan come on. Shoot. I bricked it.

    So, my question:

Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

And don't say "Get a new motherboard! That'll fix it!"
Well duh! Problem is, I don't have any real, erm, how do you say- money.

    Thanks!

Dell's do not have a BIOS recovery. The ONLY option is to replace the motherboard. Sorry.

However, one thing to try is to reset the CMOS memory (BIOS) by removing the CMOS "coin cell" backup battery for at least 10 minutes. No guarantee this will help but at this point the motherboard is trashed so anything is worth a try.

The Dell manual, available here, has instructions on removing the coin cell battery.

    Crap.

Well, in that case, looks like I'll be getting a new motherboard.

Suggestions for who I should take mah computer to? Because I'm definitely not repairing it myself. Much too difficult. Unless someone has a tutorial on how to completely replace a laptop mobo.

The Dell manual gives the steps to replace the main board. Its on the link I posted in my original response.

Dell doesn't do out of warranty repair. I can't say where in Ohio or closer by to take it for reliable repair.

The prices I see for a replacement motherboard ($200, $229 on ebay) and the price to fix it, you are better off buying a new laptop. Once you put the $$ into the old technology PC, you will still have an old technology PC. Dell discontinued the Vostro line about a year or so ago.

Replacing a laptop MB is way easy, getting the motherboard is harder.

As suggested, just take it to a shop
