Motherboard Stuck in Sleep Mode -- No Longer Posts or Boots Properly

I'm having quite the problem wirh my computer lately, which has been rock solid for me since I built it nearly 3.5 years ago.

Earlier this week I had put my computer into sleep mode, much as I had done over the past years on a nightly basis. However, this time when I attempted to wake it up, it didn't work properly. Upon pressing a keystroke, the fans began to start up as well as the lights. The monitor, however, did not turn on, and the power LED light remained blinking, just as it had in sleep mode.

I performed a series of keystrokes to try to wake it up and also attempted to press the power and reset buttons -- nothing worked. After about 20 mins. though, the pc rebooted, post beeped and presented me with a message about my non-responsive computer along with options to start normally or in safe mode.

Upon starting Windows 7, I began to look for problems, and first noticed that mt sleep mode timer had been enabled, whereas it was previously disabled. I changed this back and made sure my power profile was how I wanted it.

I let my pc go to sleep once more... same problem as before. This time it took longer for the system to reboot. I continued to do research on the issue and changed my power settings further. And then I let my computer go to sleep for a third time.

The same symptoms happened as before -- monitor wouldn't turn on, power light blinking, fans on. And then I waited... I waited more than 10 hours for it to reset itself. But it never came.

Ultimately I had to do a hard reset via the PSU. Power came on, fans and hard drives seemed to start up, a solid power light this time, but my monitor wouldn't turn on and I got no post beep.

My next step was to try resetting the CMOS, first via the jumper, then by removing and replacing the battery, which had a green LED indicator come upon powering up. No dice -- I got the same result with no post beep or bios logo screen.

So this is where I am now. I may try removing a stick of RAM to see if that works, but otherwise I'm unsure of where to go from here. It may be the case that the BIOS is corrupted beyond repair and I'll have to get a new mobo, but I certainly hope not.

I would appreciate anyone who could help me with this issue though.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news; but if you have already tried all of that and you still get no response from your system; it probably is due to the fact that the bios probably is corrupted. And if in fact it is; as far as I know of; there is no way to fix that unless you possibly contact the manufacturer; and try and send the mb into them and see if somehow it can be fixed which may be less $ than having to buy a whole new mb. Especially if you have already tried removing the cmos battery. As long as the mb bios is in proper working order; generally speaking; resetting the bios by taking out the battery should always reset it to defaults; allowing it to re-detect the devices in your system. Otherwise; it sounds like unfortunately your mb became a paperweight somehow.

I agree with the above. You may want to try to flash the bios again to see if that helps.

Yes, I feared that would be the result. Thank you both for your responses; I'll see about flashing the BIOS and further contacting ASUS. Thanks again for your help.
