shutdown in batch file requires Administrator

    Hi all,

I've been using GFI Backup 2009 for backups for a while, it does everything I want, and sends email reports after backup is complete.

One of its features is to shutdown the computer after a backup, this rarley works, as it wont shutdown if a program is already running, including GFI backup, so its poorly designed, and no longer supported. I work around this problem with its other shutdown options, which is to run a program at backup completion, I browse to a batch file that contains the following.

    shutdown /s /f /t 60

This is working on most of my computers, however I just setup a new system for our community centre running windows 7 with all the latest updates, and on this particular system, when its finished the backup and run the batch file, I see a cmd window appear and it repeats the shutdown command down the cmd window, without actually running it. like this.

    shutdown /s /f /t 60
    shutdown /s /f /t 60
    shutdown /s /f /t 60
    shutdown /s /f /t 60
    shutdown /s /f /t 60
    shutdown /s /f /t 60

However, if I execute the command in a run prompt it works, if I right click on the batch file, and run as Administrator it works.

So I don't know why my other win 7 computers are working fine, and the new one is not.

Any suggestions and comments are very welcome,

    Thanks you.

What happens if you right click on the GFI Backup 2009 executable and select Properties.
Click on the Compatibility tab and check Run this program as an Administrator?
