what directory should rstrui.exe (system restore) run from?

Most windows applications (e.g media player, calculator, svchost, event viewer) run from its system32 counterpart. Ive noticed that system restore, which is rstrui.exe, runs from a:

"windows/winsxs/amd64-microsoft-windows-systemrestore-main_xxxxxxxxxxxxx_6.1.7601.18574_none_xxxxxxxxxxxxx" folder.

In this folder is, rstrui.exe of course, and srclient.dll, and srcore.exe.

These files were only created the 15th of october, where I had many windows updates.

Is this a legitimate directory for system restore, and for other applications to run from here?

It seems it does run from system 32 according to process explorer, but going to "open file location" brought me to the winsxs folder.

I was viewing an item in system32. It was an .exe that I looked at after clicking open file location in task manager.

I right clicked on it to get the context menu. While this was happening, I had nvidia drivers installing. This file had some sort of UAC protection. (The blue shield was by the delete button.)

I went to click properties then tye screen went black, and the resolution went to 800x600 since the nvidia installer removed the driver. Im worried since the resolution changed, that I may have hit delete by accident.

I remember hitting delete accidently on a folder with the shield by the delete button before, and it moved It to the recycle bin straight away. No yes or no prompt. Nothing was in the recycling bin after. I didnt hear any recycle bin noise. Is my system 32 folder fine? Sfc scannow reports no violations.

There should be a "yes/no" prompt. It should move to recycle bin. I think you didn't delete it at all (?) Can't help you.

So even if I had delete it wpuld have just moved to the recycling bin? So nothing important was deleted? I was viewing the file wbengine.exe im 99% certain and it is still there.
