Puzzled by the amount of space Win 7 is using on my SSD
[QUOTE] Recently installed 7 on my new 240GB SSD. I went in to Computer Management to shrink the partition holding 7. I was amazed to see that the install is taking up 137GB+/-of space leaving me with a paltry 30GB or so out of 240! I did extend the partition a bit to make it the 193GB you see in the screenshot.
This makes no sense to me because on my mechanical drive where I had a triple boot, the Win 7 partition was 75GB and hardly half of it was used by the OS and all my programs! So if it was only taking up 35GB to 37GB on the old drive why is it now being such a hog??
Makes no sense to me what is taking up all the space. The install was only done about a week ago and I have 2 more programs to install then I am done. I even let 7 make that System Reserved Partition fwiw, I never had that before either.
I was so tempted to use a 3rd party program to resize that partition to 75GB.....but I was sure there was a reason 7 wouldn't let me do it so I never tried another program.
Very disappointed with the results is all I can say, I am mystified what is taking up all the bleeding space!
Thanks to all in advance!
