I have changed the graphics card and PSU, but still the PC resets even on occasions where nothing is being used. I'm looking to find out what is causing this.

    Cheers

have you checked to make sure all the cables are in the right places and they are connected tightly. also it sounds like there is a issue with the power supply itself. i would try testing the psu for proper voltage because generally a graphics card itself shouldn't cause issues

Could be a memory chip issue; that would be my guess since you have already replaced the PSU which would be another potential candidate.

My experience with memory tests, such as the built-in Windows 7 Memory Diagnostic, have had questionable results; ie, no problems detected, but there was a bad chip. I keep a couple of known good ram chips around for testing purposes, just to confirm whether or not there is a failing chip.

Cheers Sir George, you were spot on. I took my two 8GB Ram chips and swapped them around and since then I have had no problem. Nearly 24 hours without a reset. Still not sure if one is dodgy or whether one just wasn't lodged in correctly, but not going to worry too much. Thanks for all the help.
