    thumbnails

I want to always see picture thumbnails instead of icons but I only see icons.I have "show thumbnails instead of icons" unchecked in the view tab of folder options but I see icons instead of thumbnails and must be doing something wrong! Can someone straighten me out?

Is this for only pictures or video as well, you only see thumbnails for file types windows understands. If videos what format are the videos?

Should show up then but I just noticed I read your post wrong, you should have that setting Checked and not Unchecked for thumbnails to show up.

    Hello Herm,

In addition, double check in each Option 1, 2, and 3 in the tutorial below that you have thumbnails enabled. Sometimes one may override the other, so it's best to check each one.

Thumbnail Previews - Enable or Disable

Next, make sure that you have Windows Photo Viewer is set as the default program with all of it's associations. Some 3rd party image viewing programs do not support thumbnails, and do not work well when set a the default program instead.

Default Programs - Set a Program's Default Associations

If all the above checks out, then see if clearing and resetting the thumbnail cache may help if it had gotten corrupted.
