    Windows Explorer Questions

    1) Anyway to get Explorer to show the file name and extention.
My recent new install of Win 7, shows the file extention for some files (e.g dll)
but omits them for others (e.g. exe, vbp, ...)

RESOLVED THROUGH CONTROL PANEL FOLDER OPTION CHECKBOXES

    2) When I now open Explorer it just has a file list without any details.
I have to manually go into folder options each time and click on Details rather than
the default being the previous set folder option (in my case Details).

    3) Get the preview pane to stay at the far right when I bring up Explorer
so that my file list shows more. Right now preview takes up about 1/2 the screen.

Where do I go to tell Win 7 I'm the administrator?
FWIW I'm the only user and s/b the administrator by default.

Open Explorer and set the view the way you like. Use the Tools menu, Folder Options, and click to the View tab. Select 'Apply to Folders'. This should change the default view for all folders.

Folder View - Set a Default for All Folders

I am not sure if you can change your account type. If not, create a new account making sure the setting is Administrator and switch to that account. You might want to go to the Control Panel, User Accounts and confirm yours is NOT an administrator account.
