    Disabled ActiveX Helper

    I have a new build - windows 7 ultimate (x64).

    I'm turning off superfluous features (fax, tablet, remote desktop...)

    I have the nirsoft/sysinternals suite of apps: ActiveXHelper tells me some activex components that are missing

    when I googled it, I found activeX Compatability Manager. For similar entries, it appears to give conflicting info.

    44 (selected) of 740 are enabled.the rest are disabled.

    Can anyone shed any light?

    The reported missing files are not missing.

    unable to manage with activexhelper, completely disabling homegroup...

    No news from the forum, so I'll add what I've deduced thus far...

    I have several features already disabled, via shellexview for example homegroup + nvidia context objects etc

    I looked HomeGroup's CLSID in regedit, and found
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{67CA7650-96E6-4FDD-BB43-A8E774F73A57}

    this is the homegroup controlpanel applet/icon. Homegroup is disabled, so clicking the icon does nothing, so I'll disable this.

    HomeGroup ({67CA7650...}) is listed as an ActiveXHelper (enabled) and a ShellExView (disabled).

    The ActiveXHelper doesn't seem to work - register/unregister/disable etc seems to have no effect. I wonder if this is because IE is used to manage activex, and I don't have IE installed...

    Found how to properly remove homegroup, will see what effect this has on listed installed/active/missing activex entries
