VS 2010 Ultimate - Application Error Reporting to Be Installed

Seen this in other threads but I'm hoping to get an answer to a specific question below:

"How to remove Application Error Reporting from list of components to install during VS 2010 setup"

    If you're wondering why?

I'm installing VS 2010 Ultimate 64 bit on Win7 enterprise 64bit and it fails at installing Application Error Reporting. I've tried to troubleshoot this, but I'd like to try by passing application error reporting to see if I can continue, as I already have it installed and enabled. My MSI log files give error 1603, which is very common and people say it's a corrupted installer, but I have my doubts. Any help is appreciated.

This is unfamiliar territory for me, but, if you are using the ISO, try using the web install (bootstrapper) the difference is the ISO contains everything for every scenario, where as the Bootstrapper is a small lightweight download and determines what it needs to install and downloads those things from the internet, I have read. You may give that a try.

    Thanks for the response,

I'm installing VS from a CD, from the sounds of it looks pooched.

Honestly, I've never used it, but I do recall reading that installing it with a web installer instead of a DVD or ISO, works better if you are having issues.

Update: I tried a whole bunch of suggestions, and because I don't have an MSDN subscription, literally just this CD I am now installing VS 2010 Ultimate trial via bootstrapper to see if it helps. I'll post my results in a few hours. Wow what a weekend!
